Billie Morgan, 84, of Atlantic, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Billie Ervin Morgan was born May 27, 1929, in Atlantic to Charles W. and Vera L. (Cousins) Morgan. He lived in Cass County his entire life except when he served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He graduated from Lewis High School.
On June 5, 1955, Billie married Marge Sessums in Shreveport, La.
Upon returning home from the service, Bill worked at Swanson's Grocery Store, then Paul's Grocery, buying it and renaming it B & D Food Corner. He then later changed careers selling cars retiring from Deter Motors in 1995.
Bill was a member of the Shriners, Masons, Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees and the Nishna Hills Board, where he had been a member since 1963.
Enjoyment for Bill was playing cards and golfing. He also liked to go hunting with his bird dogs. He played basketball in high school and had a passion for sports his entire life.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents and his wife, Marge in 2006.
Bill is survived by his children, Douglas Duane Morgan of Atlantic, and Lee Ann (Bruce) Hansen of Atlantic; grandchildren, Christina (Greg) Wilke of Brayton, and Brett Austin Hansen of Council Bluffs; and a great-grandchild, Brendan Austin Wilke of Brayton.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic. Interment of ashes will be in the Atlantic Cemetery with military graveside rites. The family will visit with people at a luncheon at Hockenberry's following the committal service.
Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time.
