Sharon J. Locke
6/18/1949 - 8/10/2013

Sharon Janice (Lopes) Locke passed away on August 10, 2013. She was a lifetime resident of Auburn.
Sharon is survived by: her husband, Oscar Locke; sister Judy Marcum; sons Michael Locke, Darron Locke, Kevin Locke, Kurt Locke; daughter Lynette Miner; nine grand children; and 12 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Auburn Recreation District, Recreation Drive, Auburn California.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Sharon's memory to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association or your favorite charity.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I met Sharon when we were Freshman at Placer. She immediately intuited that I was paralyzed by shyness like many teenagers. Others interpreted my reticence as snootiness, aloofness or unfriendliness. Sharon was the most sweet and wonderful person I worked with at Aerojet. She kept impeccable records of our teams efforts and we relied on her many times to set the record straight.
After moving to another department, I visited one day and when she saw me came over and gave me a big hug. I really needed that and when I e-mailed her my appreciation, she said hugs worked both ways.

I'm saddened to learn of Sharon's death and my heart goes out to her family. Although we had lost touch after retiring, she will always be remembered by us. Both Brent and I enjoyed bowling with her on the Aerojet league and over the years of working and bowling, found her to be a wonderful & kind person. She will be missed! God bless and keep her. And may all the fond & loving memories keep her always in your hearts.

When I remember all of the events that Sharon arranged and included me in... I realize she helped shape many of us into the people we are today.
I remember Ms. Clotfelter's Charm School, the Teen's Bridge Club, Job's Daughters,trying out for Placer High Song Leaders, and sharing dinners and playing games while Managing Apartments together as young adults.
Sharon shared and role modeled grace, patience, kindness, while being friendly and happy natured. I will miss her, but she did a life time of brightening our lives.

I met Sharon at Bowling. She was always smiling and positive about her illness. Oddly, I had no idea we both shared the same name, her middle and my first. I always felt she endured much suffering to keep looking forward to survival. I know that she fought hard and the last time I saw her was at the end of bowling season this year. My condolences to her family and she will be greatly missed. I am so glad I knew her.

Sharon was one of the most beautiful people I have ever known. Beauty on the inside is far more important...and she was extraordinarily beautiful. I admired her very much and truly loved to be in her presence. She was a giver and loved life. I am so privileged to have been able to be her cousin (2nd) and am very saddened that her light is not to be here for us no longer. She is very missed and always loved. I met Sharon in the 7th grade attending JYC dances at the Auburn Recreation Park gym in 1961. Then we went on to have all the wonderful high school memories at Placer High Class of 67. Sharon was the kindest person I have ever known. When there were wonderful events or tragedies in my life or others we knew she was always there with a phone call to talk and give congratulations or support. She was truly an angel here on earth and I will miss her. She fought a long hard battle with courage and inspiration. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. We will meet again!

Sharon, as I watch tears running down Renae's cheeks while she is writing her thoughts in your guest book I think of all the fun times, vacations we have shared as we went thru life. I will always remember you being an incredible friend to us and our family!!!

When we were babies her family attended First Baptist Church on E Placer Street with my family. We were in the nursery together. Her dad Willy Lopes and my father both worked for Safeway stores. Sharon, beautiful, and kind. I enjoyed seeing her at the all class reunion. Still beautiful.

I have very fond memories of Sharon from my youth. She was friends with the Kamingas across the street from me and we spent some time having fun as kids. We recently reconnected and she gave not indication that she was ill. I am very sorry to hear of her passing.
