Harold "Rusty" Devany
12/26/1925 - 11/11/2012
Rusty passed away quietly at home with his beautiful wife Lourdes by his side, Sunday morning November 11, 2012.
A long-time resident of Roseville, Calif., he lived out his "golden years" in Kino Bay, Mexico.
Born December 26, 1925 in Granite City, Illinois; Rusty proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, arriving in Sacramento after separating from active duty in 1947. He followed his service with a few jobs, one working for the Southern Pacific Railroad, and then found his passion as a professional photographer. He opened his first studio in Citrus Heights in the late 1960's then relocating to Roseville for the next 25 years. Rusty loved riding his motorcycle "Susie" throughout the United States and in later years, he also enjoyed traveling around Mexico taking pictures.
Rusty is survived by his loving wife Lourdes; sons, Michael and Dennis; daughter, Teresa; daughter-in-laws, Sharon and Laura; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his extended family in Mexico City. He is preceded in death by his daughter, DeeAnn and his first wife, Petra.
At his request, private services will be held.

I worked with Rusty for a newspaper in Fair Oaks in the early sixties. I also shot weddings with him, and he shot my wedding in 1967. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful person and a great photographer. Sad to hear of his passing.

Michael, Your family was so much a part of my early years in Sacramento. Your mom and mine were such good friends in the Cannon St neighborhood. Your dad took such great pictures, and they are treasured still. We have often wondered where Rusty was and am sorry it took his obituary to end the search. Please accept my condolences for you and your family.

Ed and I will forever remember our wonderful rides with Rusty. There was always a "great place for pie" involved. What a wonderful person he is and will always be thought of fondly.

So sorry to hear of Rusty's passing.
He was well liked by everyone who met him.
We will forever remember him as always having the "last one" for sale, of whatever he was selling, for the GWRRA motorcycle association.
We will miss him....

Wish we could have spent more time together. Things and people change as we age. I hope you found the peace you always wanted. I believe I got my love of art & photography from you. RIP
