Not sure what to say?

Granny- it has been 5 years since you have left us and it is not any easier. People say it gets easier with time, and I call BS. I miss you more now than ever. I wish you could have met Sebastian and been in his life, he is soo amazing and would have loved you to the moon and back. All you wanted was a great grandchild and I am soo sorry I took so long to get my life together. I hope you can look down upon us and see him grow and watch over him. I will make sure he knows all about you and how amazing you are. I hope you can see the person I have become and be proud that I have come this far in life. I owe it all to you, if it weren't for you taking care of me as a child and showing me true and unconditional love I don't know where I would be today. I love and miss you more than I ever could have expected. Always missing you Granny, R.I.P

Our hearts are broken. We miss "Granny" more than any words can describe.

Your grandchildren adore you Earlene and have the most wonderful memories any grandchildren could possibly have. These memories are the most valuable gift anyone could ever receive.

Her unconditional love for her family was incredible and inspiring.

I remember being very nervous the first time I went to that cute little house on Dry Creek Rd, to meet Shelley's family. Earlene made me feel right at home during that first visit(this wasn't special treatment, it's how she treated all).

I regret not telling her thank you for being a super mother-in-law, and how when I heard others grumbling about their's over the years, I would brag about how great she was. She was always there when we needed her, wether convenient or not, with that smile on her face. I'll miss the glow she and the grandchildren had whenever they met.

I'll miss picking up the phone and hearing her voice, "It's Me." "Hi Me," I would say as she breaks out in a belly laugh.

We may be heartbroken, but we have a treasure of wonderful memories.

Thank you to all of the family and friends for all of your help and support. Thank you for such great help in arranging and preparing (and cleaning up) for Earlene's service and celebration of life. We planned to, but Shelley, nor I, would have been able to say this yesterday without choking up. Thank you.

Earlen Cross was an important person in my life and Sadie Girls....She made sure she kept me in the family after Marty and I divorced. I appreciated that so much and am really going to miss her. I can't imagine life without her in it and hope now she can have peace in her life. She was always waiting on the porch for Sadie and I to pull up in the driveway with the biggest brightest smile and open arms. I will miss the talks and laughter while sitting around with her and her sisters and Earl drinking her famous iced tea. I will always cherish her and the light she brought with her where ever she was. Rest in peace granny and look forward to seeing you again someday! Keep watch over Sadie while she continues to grow. Earl we will always keep in touch and make sure you get plenty of Sadie time as I am fully aware of the special bond you and her have. I am touched and very grateful that you still consider me to be your daughter and I will keep in touch always and forever. I love you all so much!

I am beyond sad to learn this! Aunt Earlene was a second mother to me growing up! I have lovely memories of her kindness and her beautiful voice. She loved her country music! I will miss hearing updates at Christmas time and just knowing she's not around to take care of her family whom she adored is heartbreaking! Uncle Earl, Trina, Shelley, Earl, Marty and all the grandkids...I'm so sorry for our loss! Love you all!

My Granny was the best! I remember when I was younger she would always make me warm chocolate milk in the morning and give me a bowl of pickels. She would always take care of me, my Papa, and my dad. She always welcomed anyone who came in her door and offer them a nice glass of ice tee. I will misss all the memories of my Granny!

Earlene was always made sure my connection to the family was for ever!!!! I still to this day call her my mother n law and not EX daughter n law. I will always remember her sweet face when dropping or picking up Sadie Girl for her visits. Althought they were few and far between since Sadie started highschool, we managed to keep our famiky together. Losing Earlene was tragic and a terrible loss to our community. She touched many people over the years with her southern hospitality.
Love you always Earlene and rest in peace without anymore worries.....

Aunt Earlene was a wonderful Aunt. I have only good memories of her and Uncle Earl. With our family being so close, I remember them at not only the Shrum Family Reunion, but at the Tipton/Maple Family Reunion. Aunt Earlene had a great singing voice and I loved when we all got together and sang. I especially liked when I was younger and they would bring out the guitars. I will miss her, but I am sure my Mom was right at the gates of heaven giving her big smile and hug. Aunt Jeweldine, Granny and Grandpa were also waiting. I am sure Uncle Wayne had a grin waiting for her too. Love you Aunt Earlene. Cindy Gayle
