Edward N. Lester
1933 - 2013
Edward N. Lester, 79, passed away in Auburn California on May 13, 2013, due to complications with chemotherapy treatment. Edward was born and raised in Southern California to the proud parents Eddie and Lena Lester. After graduating from high school, Edward attended college. Shortly thereafter Edward entered the U.S. National Guard, the 224th infantry/tank company (90 mm gun). After receiving his first, last, and only pay check from the National Guard for $42.12, Edward was honorably discharged due to a medical condition.
Edward then began working for Oscar Meyer Meat Company as a young salesmen, then with State Farm Insurance (Life Insurance), the Woodlake Inn as a purchasing agent, and eventually with Finegold's Restaurant Supply as a very successful kitchen designer and installer for the Sacramento, Auburn, Grass Valley, and Nevada City areas.
Married for over 25 years, Edward was the proud father of two. Edward was a dedicated friend to many, a true humanitarian, and exceptional conversationalist with a quirky sense of humor. He was a delightful human being who loved the Opera, Broadway shows, classical music, and sailing. Edward will be sorely missed by all, but mostly by his family, friends, companion and true love Arlene.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Newcastle United Methodist Church (NUMC) at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 26th. A reception will follow immediately after. Memorial donations can be sent to NUMC or Shriners Hospital.
