Erna Faye D'Amato entered into rest on Sunday, September 30, 2012 after a long struggle from breast cancer complications. Erna was born in Oakland, Calif., on November 13, 1951 to Ernest and Hazel Quick. She later became a Rocklin, Calif., resident. Erna was an LVN for 31 years and retired from Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital in 2005. She focused her practice in the hospital at the ICU and Telemetry units.
Erna was preceded in death by her father, Ernest; her mother, Hazel; and her brother, Philip Quick. Erna is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Dennis; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Leticia D'Amato (Tualatin, Ore.); niece, Letty Doyce (Hayward, Calif.); nephew, David D'Amato (Tualatin, Ore.); long time friends, Joan, Maryann, Carolyn, Tracy, Betty and many caring neighbors.
In her time, Erna loved to quilt and garden. She also enjoyed spending time as a volunteer police patrol officer for the Rocklin Police Department. Erna greatly appreciated the fair and ethical treatment of shelter pets. She provided a loving home for her kittens Sophie and Joy.
Visitations will be held at Cochrane's Chapel of the Roses, 103 Lincoln St Roseville Calif., on Thursday, October 4, 2012 and Friday, October 5, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at St. Theresa's of Avila Catholic Church, 11600 Atwood Rd., in Auburn at 11 a.m.
