Evelyn Ellen Shrum
2/14/1928 - 1/30/2013
Evelyn Ellen Shrum was born on Valentines Day, February 14, 1928, a fraternal twin.
She married Thomas Houston Shrum April 17, 1943 shortly before he went off to war as a B-24 ball turret gunner, with fights out of Wendling Field, England. Their first child was one year old before Tom returned home from the war.
Together, they raised five sons, two daughters and cared for several foster children.
Evelyn loved to spend weekends reading children's classics to her infant children with their pets sitting about on her bed. She and Tom cared very much about the simple things in life, like family, friends, and her eclectic assortment purchased at Goodwill. She and Tom moved to Loomis in 1957 where they lived on acreage, raising their children and farm animals. They were strong supporters of education and believed in helping others less fortunate. Evelyn passed away January 30, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, a younger brother and sister, seven children, foster children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
