Gary Keeler passed away February 4, 2013 at the age of 72 after a year long courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born, July 29, 1940 in Grass Valley to George "Curley" and Vivian Keeler. The family moved to Folsom in 1956 where he graduated from Folsom High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy.
Gary married his first wife, Carol Moriarty of Folsom in 1959. They had three children. The family made their home in Auburn, where he worked and retired from PG&E. Gary then worked for Simpson and Simpson as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator. Later he drove tankers for NormPaul Inc. hauling water from the springs to the bottling plants, also hauling non-potable water for the base camps during forest fires. For the past 30 years he also owned and operated Keelers Klassic Kars where one could find him working on various projects, he was never idle.
He married Joy White of Meadow Vista in 1994, who was by his side through his arduous fight, never once did he complain of his illness. Gary shared his passions for classic cars, gardening and animals with his wife Joy. They attended and participated in hot rod runs, grew vegetables and flowers to share and adopted rescued animals - they were truly each other's best friend and partners for life.
Gary is survived by his wife, Joy White-Keeler, children Karey (Chuck) Leroy, Dennis (Jackie) Keeler and Brett Keeler. He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Katie (Jarrod) Guldbech, Chip Leroy, Andrew (Krista) Keeler, Sara Keeler, and Correy Keeler and two great grandchildren Matthew and Gracie Guldbech. He is also survived by his Niece Sue Keeler and his Nephew Mike Keeler.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Vivian Keeler and his brother Don Keeler.
At Gary's request, no services will be held.
