Lorenzo Garcia was born on August 10, 1924 in El Paso, Texas, to Estevan Soto and Eulojia Garcia. He passed away peacefully on May 2, 2014 at the age of 89 at his home in Roseville.
Lorenzo moved to Roseville in 1948 to work for the Pacific Fruit Express and the Southern Pacific Railroad as a clerk and laborer. After 39 1/2 years, he retired from the Southern Pacific in September 1986.
He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed boxing, football and baseball. He loved cooking and was famous for his outstanding salsa, never giving up his recipe. You could find him tending his garden and spending time with his grandchildren.
Lorenzo was a devoted family man and is survived by: his wife of 72 years, Genevieve Zuniga Garcia, his daughter, Yvonne Garcia McCrary (Richard), seven grandchildren, Laura Esler (John), Stephanie Mullaney (John), Errin Garcia, Kyle McCrary, Kaylin Watkins, Michael Garcia, and Lauren McCrary; three great-grandchildren Conor, Payton, and Bradley, and extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Garcia.
No services were held. A private burial was held at Roseville Cemetery with family on June 13, 2014.
