Sylvia Marie Irwin
3/11/1918 - 2/15/2013
Sylvia Marie Irwin was gently led by Jesus' hand to her eternal home in heaven on February 15, 2013.
On March 11, 1918 Sylvia was born to Walter and Ellen Scharnweber in Des Moines, Iowa. Living most of her life in Iowa, she graduated from East High School in Des Moines. On May 17, 1937 Sylvia married Harry Irwin and in July of 1939 they were blessed with their precious daughter Jane. From Iowa, the couple moved to California where they established their home in Inglewood. Sylvia worked at various jobs but found her best talents as a bookkeeper. After retiring from the Deutch Company, she cared for her husband, Harry until his passing in 1986. She enjoyed many things such as refinishing furniture, gardening, sewing, cooking, quilting, stamp collecting just to name a few, but most of all, she loved the Lord, her family and always had such adoration for Gods' creatures and creations. Her sense of being was beautiful, and she brought life to anything she touched.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Walter C. Scharnweber; and sister-in-law, Edith "Dode" Scharnweber. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Jane Rhodes of Auburn; her granddaughters, Jeannine Horn of Napa, Christina Rhodes of Auburn; and her three precious great-grandchildren: Lauren Rhodes-Holster, Peyton Rhodes-Roberts and Olivia Horn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Hope Lutheran Church in Penryn, California at 11 a.m. Any donations can be made to Hope Lutheran School, 7117 Hope Way Penryn, California 95663. Please sign the guestbook at www.chapelofthehills-auburn.com
