Christel Margarete Kleinke passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 5th 2018 at the age of 84, in Auburn, California. Christel was born October 28th, 1934 in Berlin, Germany. She was a loving wife of 64 years to Hans Kleinke of Auburn, California. Hans and Christel met in Berlin, Germany in 1953 while he was enlisted in the U.S. Army. They moved to Oakland, California and raised three children. In 1969 the family moved to Auburn , California, where Christel worked as a teacher's aid teaching German at Placer High School. She also worked as a waitress at the Clock Tower Café in Auburn. Christel enjoyed hosting parties, singing, yodeling, playing guitar, travel and taking care of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband Hans Kleinke of Auburn, California; her three sons, Martin (Elke) Kleinke of Sacramento, California, Harry Kleinke of Newcastle, California and Stephen Kleinke of Auburn, California. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Alex (Alli) Kleinke of Santa Rosa, California, Erika (Colin) Dieni of Portland, Oregon and Amber Kleinke of Sacramento, California.
A memorial service and a Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, January 19th, 2019 at 11am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Auburn, California.
