John Anthony Padavona died of natural causes on Monday, July 11, 2011. John was born in Cortland, N.Y. on September 12, 1915. He was the oldest child of Anthony and Erminia Padavona, both born in Italy.
John was preceded in death by his brothers Peter and Patsy Padavona and a sister, Carmela Padavona Capaldo all of Cortland, N.Y., and his wife Mary Padavona who died on May 23, 2011. John is survived by a son William and daughter-in-law Stephanie Padavona of Newcastle, Calif. Also, John is survived by several nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
John and his brother Peter worked for a successful plumbing contractor for several years before John left to work for the State of New York where he retired in 1977.
John and Mary moved from their home in Cortland, N.Y. to Sun City Roseville, Calif., in October, 1997. Both were very active in the Bocce Club where they won many village tournaments well into their 90's. They stayed active until one year before their death. Mr. and Mrs. Padavona were members of St. Clare's Catholic Church in Roseville, Calif. They were deeply loved by many Sun City residents and will be missed by many surviving relatives and friends.
