Michael Thomas Carrero of Lincoln, Calif., was born July 21, 1939, in Coral Gables, Fla. Our beloved husband, father, papa, and friend left this earth to be at home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday June 2, 2014 at the age of 74.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Judy Carrero of Lincoln, Calif., his children, Delores Morrissey of Bend, Ore., Sherrie Paligo of Folsom, Calif., Windy Carrero of Rocklin, Calif., Wanda Bice and husband Chuck of Culver, Ore., Susie Koyama-Norlin and husband Dan of Sandpoint, Idaho, Chris Carrero and wife Kara of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Rosey Janes and husband Todd of Wellston, Okla., fifteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and countless other family and friends.
Mike was a man of many roles. He served his country in the United States Navy. Mike was a graduate of Lindsey Hopkins Trade School in Miami, Fla., and was talented in creating custom projects as a master woodcraftsman. Mike was a commercial contractor and a construction division Vice President, traveling worldwide for an international corporation. He owned and operated several of his own businesses, the most recent of which was Waffle Farm in Lincoln, Calif., with his wife Judy.
Mike used his construction knowledge to help others with handyman work. He strived to serve others and help friends in any way he could. He truly had a servant heart for the Lord and served others with Gods love throughout his lifetime.
Mike never met a stranger, and was a friend to everyone. He always made time to talk with his family and friends and highly valued time spent together. Mike was the friend that everyone wanted to have, and was there any time you needed him. He especially enjoyed a round of golf with buddies, fishing, most recently with his grandkids, and traveling with his wife. He will be remembered by his family as the best husband, father, and papa, a true blessing from God above.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday June 21, 2014, at the Kilaga Springs Lodge in Lincoln, Calif.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Oklahoma in August. Please send your memories, stories, and comments on 4x6 cards to the family for inclusion in a memory book to continue his legacy. Photos are also greatly welcomed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Umpqua Bank for the Mike Carrero Home With Jesus Memorial Fund at 916-543-2381 or at the Twelve Bridges Branch in Lincoln, Calif.
