Fair Winds and Following seas, our sailor has left us but he will never be forgotten
Danny Will Yeomans, age 65 died with his family in attendance in Auburn, Calif., on June 11, 2014.
Dan was born in Oregon City, Ore., on October 27, 1948 and lived with his family in Crescent City before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1966. Dan served his country honorably for 23 years before retiring in 1989, spending 3 1/2 years in country in Vietnam on River Patrol Boat duty. Dan received many honors in recognition of service to his country including: a Gold Star, two Silver Stars, a Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart.
After Dan's retirement from the Navy in 1989 he settled in Napa, Calif., where he enjoyed spending time with his family. Dan was married to Susan Mimms of Birmingham, Ala. They had no children, but he always bragged that he was the greatest Uncle. His four nephews, David Yeomans US Navy, Billy Yeomans of Auburn, Calif., Jason Yeomans of Vallejo, Calif., and Robby Yeomans of Colfax, Calif., all carry fond memories of fun times with their Uncle Dan. Dan recently moved to Auburn, Calif., to be near his brother Jay.
Dan is preceded in death by his father, Will Yeomans, and his mother, Velma Yeomans of Yountville, Calif. He is survived by his brothers Fred (Theresa) Yeomans of Napa, Calif., and Jay (Pat) Yeomans of Auburn, Calif.
Services with full honors will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, Calif., on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 2:30 p.m.
