What can you say about a horseman as unique and special as Marilyn Nancy McElroy Hunter. She was a tough, honest individual that contributed greatly to the horse community through countless years of dedication and involvement. She will be greatly missed by her sons, Ronald and David, and all who enjoyed her company. She is now with her husband Glenn (who passed away earlier this year) and her beloved Raider+//.
A respected horse breeder, active member and competitor in numerous equine events and competitions, and tireless volunteer. A long-time member of Placer County Search and Rescue mounted unit and past board member of the Western States Trails Foundation (Tevis Cup). In 2011 Marilyn received from the Arabian Horse Association Region 3 Volunteer Service Award (national level). She is also remembered for visiting local nursing homes with her equine pal, Raider, brightening the day of many residents. Her big heart and ever booming voice will be missed greatly.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
