Dann D. Martinez
1/16/1923 - 6/22/2013

Dann D. Martinez at the age of 90 went to be with Jesus on June 22, 2013. Dann was born in Los Angeles, California on January 16, 1923 to Augustine and Ines Martinez. He attended Fremont High School in Los Angeles until he joined the army at the beginning of World War II, he was stationed in the Philippines for three years. After returning from the war, he was reunited with his soon to be wife, Mary Cappola, whom he had met at a Malt shop when she was 14 yrs old. They were married on May 11, 1947. Dann and Mary lived in Placentia, Calif., for 30 years where they raised their three children. Dann drove 18 wheelers up and down California until retiring in 1985. They moved to Folsom, California in 1991, where they remained until 2012, until relocating to a retirement community in Grass Valley. Dann was an avid builder and loved to work in his yard, which was always his pride and joy. There wasn't anything Dann couldn't do with wood, dirt, cement or plants. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge in Fullerton, California where he volunteered as "handyman". In Folsom, he volunteered his time at Twins Lake Food Bank for 15 years, again serving as handyman and jack of all trades. Dann is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Martinez; their three children Debra (Jim) Voss of Penn Valley, Calif., Darra (Scott) Drummond of Irmo, S.C., and David (Virginia) Martinez of Placentia, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Dann was a blessing to his entire family always eager to help in any way at any time. As Dann always said in response to everyone, "Roger D" and "Be safe on the road". Arrangements made in the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
