Walter Frank Swarsbrook "Wally", born October 24, 1930 in Brooklyn, N. Y. passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at his home in Lincoln, Calif., after a long battle with heart disease.
Wally served his country honorably for 21 years and retired from the USAF. His tenure in the USAF began with immersion training in the Spanish language just prior to the Bay of Pigs Invasion and ended during a time of peace at McClellan AFB, Calif. In the intervening years, he spent many years based overseas in both Spain and Italy. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, he moved the family to Lincoln, Calif., and took a job with the United States Post Office in Sacramento, Calif.
Wally was a gentleman "rancher" who was most comfortable in Levis, T-Shirt, and waterproof boots perched atop his tractor making things happen on his five acre "Ranchette", which he loved. Over the years, he raised beef cattle, chickens, and tended to his vegetable garden.
Wally is survived by his loving wife of 59 ½ years, Jean, along with three children, his son Jack (Myrna) Swarsbrook of Prescott, Ariz., his daughter Debbie (Stuart) Davis of Rocklin, Calif., his son Mark Swarsbrook of Lincoln, Calif., his two granddaughters; Kari Davis of San Francisco, Calif., and Erin Davis of Reno, Nev., and many other loving relatives and friends.
Wally touched so many lives in his time on this earth and we are all better for having known him.
