Ann (Levis) Nielsen (1948 - 2016)

Celebration of Life Memorial Services for Ann Nielsen, 68, of Waverly, formerly of Audubon, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon. Pastor Doug Opp officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and Kessler Funeral in Audubon are in charge of arrangements.
Ann was born on March 10, 1948, in Carroll, the daughter of Dale and Hertha (Christensen) Levis and died Thursday, August 4, 2016, at her home in Waverly.
She was raised in Audubon where she was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and graduated from the Audubon High School in 1966. Ann then attended Drake University for a year and then the University of Iowa graduating in 1970, with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in teaching. On April 13, 1969, Ann was united in marriage to Steven Nielsen at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon. In 1972, the couple moved to Muscatine, where Ann taught English and Drama at Muscatine Public School. In 1972, the couple moved to Stuart, and opened their own business Steve's Uptown Gas and Ann also worked in Ad Sales at the Stuart Newspaper. In 1974, the couple moved to Audubon, where the couple would live for the next twelve years. During these twelve years, Ann worked at Audubon, Elk Horn, and Exira Public Schools teaching English and Drama, at Sklenar Publishing in Audubon, and for the Audubon Chamber of Commerce. In 1986, the couple moved to Marshall, Minn., where Ann worked for the Chamber of Commerce and in 1989, moved to Waverly where she was Director of the Waverly Chamber of Commerce. In 1993, Ann became a Realtor and Co-Owner of Keystone Home Builders. She retired in January of 2013.
Ann was a past member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Audubon, Butler-Bremer, Chickasaw Board of Realtors, and Waverly Ambassador's Club. Her enjoyments included camping and anything artsy, however, what Ann enjoyed most was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ann is survived by; her loving husband, Steven Nielsen of Waverly; daughter, Jensine and husband (Jason) Scanlan, grandson Jordan Scanlan all of Frederika; and daughter Emily Heim, granddaughters, Megan and Madison Heim all of Zearing; a brother, Lance (Gayle) Levis of Lake Panorama; a sister, Cheryl (John) Rigler of New Hampton; her mother-in-law, Bertha Mae Nielsen; and two sisters-in-law, Dona (Tom) Garber and Marcia (Kenny) Snyder all of Audubon. She was preceded in death by: her parents; father-in-law, Martin Nielsen; brother-in-law, Gordon Lange; and niece, Elizabeth Rigler.
