The Mass of Christian Burial for Dale J. Tigges, 64, was celebrated by Reverend Andrew Hoffmann on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dedham. Interment was in St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Dedham. The honorary casket bearers were Tyler Meaike, Bruce Boehm, Jr., Adam Klein, Shawn Klein, Riley Klein, and Aaron Bruhn. The casket bearers were Russ Bruhn, Harlan Klein, Lou Herbers, Brad Weber, Randy Lange, and Rich Danner. The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of the arrangements.
Dale Joseph Tigges, the son of Joseph and Freda (Grossman) Tigges, was born July 5, 1951, in Carroll, and died Sept. 30, 2015, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., at the age of 64 years, 2 months, and 25 days.
Dale was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dedham. He attended St. Joseph Parochial School in Dedham then graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School with the Class of 1969. Following High School, Dale was employed at Derner Oil Station for a short time.
On April 28, 1973, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Klocke at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dedham. They moved to Omaha, Neb., where Bonnie completed her schooling and Dale worked at American Beef Packers in Council Bluffs. In 1974 they returned to the Audubon area where Dale started farming. He grew row crops and raised livestock. Farming was Dale's passion and over the years he was able to purchase several farms in the Viola area.
Dale was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dedham. Dale had a huge collection of John Deere toys which he had accumulated over the years. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed playing cards especially euchre and "trash" with his granddaughter Presley. Dale was a master griller and enjoyed hosting the Father's Day celebration each year to show off his skills. Family was very important to Dale. His granddaughters lovingly referred to him as "Papa" and he enjoyed taking them on gator rides and playing games with them.
Dale was preceded in death by his brother Jamie Tigges; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Bernard and Delores Klocke and his brother-in-law Lenord Meaike.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie Tigges of Audubon; his children Gina and husband Jesse Wiges of Waukee, and Cory Tigges and his special friend Lynn of Audubon; his granddaughters Presley Wiges and Brielle Wiges both of Waukee; his parents Joseph and Freda Tigges of Dedham; his brother and sisters Ron Tigges of Lake Forest, Calif., Carolyn Boehm and Jeanne Meaike both of Audubon, and Julie and husband Harlan Klein of Neola; his sisters-in-law Jean Tigges of Adel, and Bev and husband Russ Bruhn of Audubon, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
