David B. Moore of Audubon, passed away at age 68 after a battle with lung cancer. His last days at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines were peaceful ones, cared for by the remarkable staff and surrounded by those who loved him.
He was born May 25th, 1943, in Carroll, to Merle and Velma Moore who preceded him in death. He graduated from Irwin High School in 1961, Northwest Missouri State University in 1965 and the University Of Iowa College Of Law in 1968.
In addition to practicing law in Harlan, where he also served as Shelby County Attorney, David was an entrepreneur who owned and operated Farmers Savings Bank, a motorcycle shop, and an insurance agency. His advice and supportive friendship helped many achieve their dreams.
David enjoyed playing the piano and telling stories as he visited with friends. He was an avid Hawkeye fan who attended many games and watched many more with his family.
He leaves behind his three beloved children, Kristin (Brad) of Urbandale, Jason (Leslie) of Clarion, and LaNae (Joe) of Olathe, Kan., their mother Luetta Moore of Harlan, and five grandkids: Jordan, Jaylen, Alayna, Jacob and Joshua.
He will also be missed by his cat, Bob.
David, who will be missed by many, was truly a remarkable and unique man with a heart of gold. He was a great dad, grandpa and friend who touched our lives and souls. His presence was a gift for which we will always be thankful.
Per David's request, a private memorial service was held with his immediate family, and condolences may be sent to 2929 160th Street, Urbandale, IA 50323. All memorials will be donated to Taylor House Hospice in his name.
