Funeral services for Delores L. Weisenborn, 84, were held at 10:30 am, Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Sac City with Reverend Missy Brown officiating. Burial was at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City, under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.
Delores Lucille Weisenborn, of Sac City, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. She was born on Oct. 3, 1932, to Clifford and Ella (Dreeszen) Nicholson in Des Moines.
Delores grew up in Lake City, and graduated from High School there in 1951. She was united in marriage to Don Weisenborn on Dec. 19, 1953, in Lake City. This union was blessed with three sons: David, Steve, and Terry. Delores was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sac City. She worked for the Sac Community School District as a cook for 22 years, retiring in May, 1994. She loved to travel and had been to 48 states here in the US and also traveled to Canada. Delores enjoyed attending her sons sporting events and later on, her grandsons. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and looked forward to attending their games as well as watching them on TV.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Ella Nicholson; brother Don Nicholson; parents-in-law Fred and Lura Weisenborn; sisters-in-law Dorothy Nicholson and Donadee Nicholson; brothers-in-law Fred Jr., Darrell, and Cliff Weisenborn; grandson Chad Michael Weisenborn and granddaughter Oakley Ann Weisenborn.
Delores is survived by her husband Don Weisenborn of Sac City; sons: David (Arline) Weisenborn of Jacksonville, Fla., Steve (Nancy) Weisenborn of Carroll, Terry (Jennifer) Weisenborn of Exira; grandchildren: Joshua Weisenborn and Kyle Weisenborn both of Jacksonville, Fla., Jeff (Lena) Weisenborn of Urbandale, Jay (Amy) Weisenborn of Carroll, Caleb Weisenborn of Omaha, Neb., and Hayden Weisenborn of Exira; great-grandchildren: Parker Weisenborn of Urbandale, and Stella Tasler of Carroll; brother: Dean Nicholson of Storm Lake; sister: Darlene Nicholson of Lake City,, and many extended family members and friends.
