Funeral services for Dennis E. L. Billings, 36, were conducted by Minister Sam Jacobs and Pastor Paul Reynolds on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis. Casket bearers were Michael Lollie, Joshua Harrell, Marcus Hoegh, Mitchell Hoegh, Jerica Hansen, Kent Dreyer, Chandler Behrens, and Dirk Wasson. The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of the arrangements.
Dennis Eugene Lynn Billings, the son of Dennis Lee and Lonnie (Lollie) Billings, was born April 18, 1978, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, and died Oct. 2, 2014, at his home in Kimballton, at the age of 36 years, 5 months, and 14 days.
Dennis was baptized at the Fellowship of Faith Church near Oakland,. He attended Grade School in the Atlantic Community School then graduated from the Elk Horn-Kimballton High School with the Class of 1997.
Dennis was employed at Henningsen Construction Company where he helped construct steel buildings for several years. He then was employed at Quality Machines in Audubon, and worked as a metal fabricator until he was forced to retire due to his health.
Dennis volunteered at the animal rescue in Guthrie Center, and enjoyed helping care for the animals. He enjoyed fishing and listening to music. He liked landscaping and tinkering with computers. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his son Deven.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father Dennis Lee Billings; his paternal grandparents Lloyd "Poncho" and wife Ruth Billings; and his uncles Kenneth Ericksen and William Harrell.
Survivors include his son Deven Eugene Billings of Audubon; Deven's mother Heather Possehn of Audubon; his mother Lonnie Lollie; his sister Jessica Billings-Hoegh and husband Aaron all of Kimballton; his cousins Michael (Crystal) Lollie of Kimballton, Joshua Harrell of Des Moines, Andrea Harrell of St. Cloud, Minn.; Kimberly Ericksen of Atlantic
, Zach Hoegh and Dylan Lollie both of Kimballton, and Jayden Fiebelkorn of Atlantic; his best friend and faithful 4-legged companion Athena, other relatives and friends.
