The Guest Book is expired.
Diane, the oldest of four children, was born on Dec. 15, 1956, to Donald and Joyce Frevert in Charles City. After spending a year as an AFS student in Germany, Diane graduated from high school with the Class of 1976 in Audubon. She then attended the University of Iowa where she received her degree in music therapy and education. Following college, Diane worked as a music teacher in Texas for a number of years. Her desire to help people inspired her to obtain a Master's degree in Childhood Psychology from Texas State University. She worked as a school psychologist in Texas and Illinois. For the past several years, she worked at a retirement community in Byron, Ill.
Diane loved music. Throughout her life, she was involved in band, choir, and theater. She played the piano, guitar, clarinet, bassoon, and even learned to play the bagpipes when Diane joined the University of Iowa Scottish Highlanders. It was performing in community theater where she met and gained lifelong friends. Diane had a creative spirit. You would see it in the educational and fun student activities she planned as a teacher. She brought her creativity to creating her own cards and jewelry, scrapbooking, and sewing theater costumes and special dresses.
Diane's greatest love was her family. From family dinners to large family reunions, Diane cherished time with her family. Her smile was brightest when surrounded by those she loved. Beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend and pet lover. Full of faith in God, love, and generosity. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her two sisters, Karen (Randy) Nelsen of Audubon and Nancy Frevert (David Solohub) of Minnetonka, Minn.; brother, Charles (Regina) Frevert of Seattle, Wash.; nieces and nephew whom she adored, Heather, Clint, Miranda and Elizabeth Nelsen, and Katherine Solohub; dear friends, Amber and Ric; as well as other friends and relatives.
Diane was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joyce and Don Frevert; and one niece and one nephew, Katherine and William Nelsen.
In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to either: Faith Lutheran Church in Clive or the University of Iowa Music Program in Iowa City.
