Graveside services for Elaine Michaelsen, 90, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic. A time of visitation with the family will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, immediately following the graveside service. Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, is in charge of the arrangements.
Elaine, the daughter of Otto and Ella (Andersen) Reich, was born on Nov. 9, 1927, in Shelby County, and died Monday, Dec. 25, 2017 at the Heritage House in Atlantic.
She attended Clay County Township #5 country school and Sunday school in Rorbeck. She graduated from the Exira High School. The children in her family were very involved with the farm chores.
She was united in marriage to Eldred Michaelsen at the Exira Lutheran Church. They farmed together during their married life in Audubon and Cass County. In 1968, they purchased and moved to a farm in Missouri for a short time.
Upon retirement, they moved to Atlantic and lived there until Eldred's death. Elaine continued to live in Atlantic and in 2010, she moved to Heritage House. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eldred in 2000; her brothers and sisters, Freddie (Loretta) Reich, Folmer (Reta) Reich, Viola (Milo) Jensen and Verda (Norman) Juelsgaard; 2 nephews, Jack Juelsgaard and Morris Michaelsen.
Elaine is survived by several nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.
