Ella was baptized and confirmed at the Gray Methodist Church. She attended the Gray Consolidated School then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1960. Ella attended Beauty School in Des Moines, then returned to Audubon and worked with Joan's Beauty Salon.
On March 24, 1963, she was united in marriage to Earl Peter Lauritsen at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. Two children Randal and Michael were born to this union. Ella helped Earl on the farm, but continued to work as a Beauty operator with Joan Sorenson eventually purchasing the business in 1967. In the early 1970's, Ella moved the business to its present location. She truly loved the many ladies who patronized her business.
Ella enjoyed spending time with Earl. They enjoyed golfing, traveling, and watching the races in Newton. They enjoyed square dancing and served as co-president of the Audubon Circle A's. But most of all she enjoyed being involved with all the activities with her grandchildren. Earl died Dec. 29, 2009. Ella continued to live on the farm.
