Gertrude E. Pencook, 91, of Fort Dodge passed away on June 28, 2009 at the Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa. The funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial followed at North Lawn Cemetery. Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services was in charge of the arrangements.

Gertrude was born in Audubon County on December 23, 1917 to Christian and Rosa (Deist) Mack. She grew up on the family farm and married Rev. Everett Pencook on May 19, 1938 in Ross , IA. They served many Methodist Churches over the years and moved to Fort Dodge upon retirement from the Gowrie and Callendar Methodist Churches in 1983. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church , UMW and Ruth Circle at church. She was an excellent cook and baker. She also enjoyed gardening.
Gertrude is survived by her daughters, Ruth (Jack) Jordan of Turin, Iowa, Carol (Jack) Werner of Washington, D.C., and Sandra (Dean) McGrew of Fort Dodge; her grandchildren, James (Jodie) Jordan of Lyons, Neb., Tanya McGrew of Fort Dodge, and Rachel (Nicholas) Frisbie of Coon Rapids, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Yolonda Jordan and Liam Frisbie; her sister Ruby Olsen of Exira; sister in-law Ethel Mack of Audubon; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Everett; brother Floyd Mack and sister Ione McPherson.
