Gladys V. I. Hansen (Sonderup) age 95 of Kearney, Neb., entered into eternal rest on Dec. 8, 2012. Gladys was born on Mar. 19, 1917 to Henry T. and Gertrude (Pedersen) Sonderup at their home in North Logan Township, Howard County Neb. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, North Logan Township. Graduated from the Wolbach High School in 1935.
Her marriage to Ronald E. Hansen took place on Mar. 19, 1935 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church North Logan Township, Howard County Neb. Gladys and Ronald lived in Nebraska until 1962 when they moved to the Exira, Brayton and Atlantic area. Gladys returned to Kearney, Neb. in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, husband, son, Ronald Jr.; daughter in-law Mary, grandchildren Chad and Stephanie, great-granddaughter, Elizabeth, sister/brother in-law Lois and Rev. Carl Hansen, brother in-law James Pennington and sister in-law Carol Hansen.
Surviving are her children; Maynard and Janet Hansen, Grant Neb., Sylvia and Alton Schmitt, Kearney, Neb., Elwood and Jeannie Hansen, Atlantic, Lorraine and Richard Leach Kearney, Neb., Lloyd Hansen, Lincoln, Neb., Elloise Hansen, Sacramento, Calif., and daughter in-law Margaret Hansen, Brayton; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great- grandchildren; her sisters; Agnetha Pennington, Temple City, Calif., Rhoda and Ray Christensen, Grand Island, Neb.; her brother in-law Lavern Hansen, Phoenix, Ariz.; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Services will be held on at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Zion Lutheran Church, Kearney, Neb. Jacobsen Greenway Funeral Home, St. Paul, Neb. is in charge of the arrangements.
