Mass of Christian Burial for John D.Buser, were held Monday, Aug. 3, 10:30 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Church, Crete, Neb., with Fr. Steve Major officiating. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers were Erik Buser, Danny Buser, Joseph Buser, Kyle Buser, Alex Buser, Joel Winther, Cody Pomeroy, and Bill Willey. Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Buser and Jackson Buser.
John Donald Buser, son of Gerald and Caroline (Stolzenberger) Buser, was born March 28, 1938, in Fairview, Kan., and passed away on July 29, 2015, at Tabitha of Crete, in Crete, Neb. He was the oldest of six children.
John was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church at St. Augustine Parish in Fidelity, Kan. John attended rural grade school and graduated from Fairview High School in 1956. He graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in June 1963. He married Anna Mae Edwards on June 29, 1963, and they lived in Wetmore, Kan., where he started his veterinary career. They moved to Morrill, Kan., and he opened his veterinary practice in 1965. They started a family and raised five children. In 1970 he became associated with Talbot Carlson, Inc., (TCI), working with animal nutrition. In 1972 he closed his veterinary practice and became State Sales Manager for TCI. John and Anna Mae moved their family to Audubon, in 1978 where he became the Product and Ration Formulations Manager at TCI. He continued using his veterinary knowledge while working with animal nutrition for many years. During this time, he began utilizing his first computer (CPU) to formulate rations. In 1986 they moved to Crete, Neb., due to the sale of TCI to Feed Service Corporation. He continued to work in animal nutrition doing consulting until he began a new career working for Bankers Life and Casualty, and then eventually he worked for Crete Police Department as a 911 dispatcher before retiring.
John was initiated as a Fourth Degree into the Knights of Columbus on April 17, 1983, in Storm Lake, and remained an active member until his death. He was an active member of Saint James Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Crete, Neb. John had a tremendous faith in God, which he learned from his parents. His love of singing came from his early years attending Mass. He loved to camp, fish, hunt, and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He volunteered many hours of his time to the Knights of Columbus, Food Net of Crete, Neb., and Saline County Right to Life and was always willing to help others in need. Service to others was very important to John.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Anna Mae Buser. His children are: David (Gracie) Buser, Wells, Nev.; Angela (Robert) Winther, Audubon; Matthew Buser and Kim Buser, Crete, Neb.; Karin (Gary) Huff, Anita; and Paul Buser, Lincoln, Neb. He was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his siblings: Eloise (Fred) Hawk; Robert (Ellen) Buser; Irene Eisenbise; and Gary (Pam) Buser. He is also survived by, John (Betsy) Edwards, brother-in-law; William Willey, brother-in-law; and Sharon Buser King, sister-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Buser and Caroline Buser Draney; Leo Buser, brother; Daniel Draney, stepfather; Lorena Edwards, mother-in-law; John Edwards, father-in-law; Ronda Willey, sister-in-law; Dixie Litle, sister-in-law; Jeanne Buffington, sister-in-law.
