Funeral services for Grace Campbell, age 92, of Gray, were held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon.  The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of the arrangements.
Julia Grace Campbell, the daughter of Samuel Jay and Hazel Elizabeth Anderson Lawson, was born on the family farm Nov. 20, 1922, near Gray, and died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Friendship Home in Audubon, at the age of 92 years, five months and thirteen days.
Grace was baptized in the Gray United Methodist Church in Gray.  She graduated from the Gray Consolidated School in 1940 where she was on the high school women's basketball team.   She went on to get her teaching certification in Audubon. 
She began her teaching career at a country school, one mile north of Ross.  On Nov. 2, 1942, she was united in marriage to George W. Campbell at the United Methodist Church in Gray.  She then taught for six years at the Lincoln #2 School in Lincoln Township, Audubon.  She also worked for six years at Nelson Manufacturing in Manning, and cooked at the Friendship Home in Audubon, for twelve years and at the Good Neighbor Center in Audubon.
Grace was a life-long member of the Gray United Methodist Church in Gray, where she participated in the church choir, taught Sunday School and was a member of the women's circles.  She served on church boards, was Past President of the Ladies Aid and had been Bible School Superintendent.  George and Grace were Farm Bureau Family of the month and they were a host family for three Japanese Farm Trainees.  Another of her great loves was 4-H where she was a Charter Member of the Lucky Lincoln 4H Club.  She had been a member of the Elderbridge Board and the KYN (Know Your Neighbor) Club.
Preceding her in death were her husband, George W. Campbell on June 30, 2007; a son, Warren Campbell on May 12, 2009; her parents; her father-in-law; and her sisters, Edith Stoberl and Wanda Tigges.
She is survived by her children, Harry (Dianne) Campbell of Manning, Allen (Donna) Campbell of Pueblo West, Colo., Suzanne (Larry) Burkholder of Westlake Village, Calif., Rosemary (Greg) Vander Vort of Poway, Calif., Lida  (Mike) Olsen of Sumner, Shirley (Kent) Weber of Marne, and Bev (Tom) Testroet of Audubon; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Campbell of Sac City; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; a sister-in-law, Lois Lawson of Audubon, - nieces, nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
