He served as a Hawk Fire Control Crew Member and was honorably discharged on Oct. 28, 1985. He met Victoria Lollie at an Overland Truck Stop and on May 6, 1988, the two were married in Audubon.
Ken worked at Mahle Engine Components for almost 28 years, working nearly 7 days a week. He was a hardworking man and was willing to help others when they needed it.
He was a member of the Kimballton Fire Department for 25 years, Elk Horn Fire and Rescue, Amvets Post 51 in Kimballton, and a member and treasurer of ABATE Iowa district 3.
Ken enjoyed his Harleys, rebuilding them with some friends and taking daily rides. He liked watching NASCAR, football, drag racing, and any other sport out in his Man Cave. He collected antique toys and knick-knacks for the Man Cave. Other enjoyments were being outside catching some sun on his balding head, grilling out with family and neighbors and going camping at the Grove in Elk Horn. Many people will remember drinking a few beers in the Man Cave and the daily "Hey Neighbor!" Ken would always teach the young kids how to do the peace sign. Papa Ken loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking them to hang out in the Man Cave or playing Crash Bandicoot on the Playstation.
