Memorial services for Lisa J. Andersen, 52, were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Faith Bible Church, 6201 S. 84th Street, Lincoln, Neb. Private interment services will be in Cheney Cemetery.
Lisa was born May 3, 1963 near Concord, Neb., to her parents, Gary and Yvonne Erwin. She passed into Jesus' arms Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the age of 52. She graduated from Allen High School and attended Morningside University on a basketball and volleyball scholarship. As a child, Lisa had a strong relationship with the Lord and a desire to see her peers fall in love with Jesus. As she grew older, her love for the Lord and people grew stronger. After graduating from college with a Physical Education and coaching degree, Lisa went on a mission trip to the Philippines where she continued her lifelong commitment to helping people in need. When she entered the Job Core, Lisa began investing her time and heart into telling hurting people about Jesus and engaging them with her contagious personality. She leaves a legacy of intentionally building relationships with people from all walks of life.
In 1988 Lisa met the love of her life while playing in a YMCA basketball league. Kent and Lisa were married on June 24th, 1989 and lived in Red Oak, for a brief time before moving to Columbus, Neb. Kent and Lisa were blessed with their three children soon after moving to Columbus. The family of five shared countless cherished memories on their acreage including harvest parties, horseback riding, and raising puppies. Lisa was always a focal point of her family. She loved her children relentlessly, bringing them up with wisdom and devotion. She taught her children to love others and more importantly, to love Jesus. Lisa poured into her husband, children, and community through her gifts of music, coaching and teaching, and her ability to impact individuals in deeply meaningful ways.
Lisa has stood firm in her faith, worshipping her Lord and Savior through many challenges. She has always stood her ground and used her voice to call others into greatness. God has used her life to impact countless people. Everything she did in this life pointed to the One she loved most. In this time of grief she would want her loved ones to know that it is worth it to follow Jesus. She never pointed to herself but always pointed to her Lord and Savior. Many will miss her dearly, but we press on knowing that she is in the arms of the One she loves.
Lisa is survived by her husband Kent Andersen of Lincoln, Neb.; her son, Kaleb Andersen and wife Ali of Omaha, Neb., her daughters, Joelle Andersen of Fremont, Neb., and Danielle Andersen of Seward, Neb.; her parents Gary and Yvonne Erwin of Concord, Neb.; her sisters Kari and Phil Lowe of Ponca, Neb.; Lori and Lindy Koester of Concord; Susan and Brian Carrott of Clear Lake, and Lana and Max Oswald of Martinsburg, Neb.
Memorials to the family to be used primarily toward a family mission trip and secondarily toward other God honoring interests. Condolences may be left at www.bmlfh.com.
