Interment will be in the Oakhill Cemetery west of Brayton following services. Roland Funeral Services in Atlantic are caring for Lloyd's family and the arrangements.
Lloyd was born Dec. 18, 1926 to Nels Emmanuel and Edna Christina (Gerhardt) Pedersen in Gates, Iowa, and passed away early Tuesday morning, Oct. 13, 2009, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital at the age of 82.
He attended rural grade schools in Audubon and Cass counties and earned his GED from Iowa Western Community College. Lloyd enlisted in the Army on March 7, 1946, and was discharged on Sept. 19, 1947. As a 2nd grader, Norma Jean fell in love with a special boy in the 7th grade. In years to come, the fairy tale became reality when Lloyd fell in love with her. On June 17, 1951, Lloyd and Norma Jean Lund were married at the Anita Lutheran Church in Anita. Through the years they raised kids, crops, cows and hogs. He enjoyed farming and farmed for over 50 years. Lloyd could be found having coffee and shakes at McDonalds, reading and TV news, farm sales, shooting pool and riding motorcycles. He was active in the Brayton Lutheran Church Council and wouldn't miss the Brayton and Hamlin dart ball team. He laughed a lot watching "2 ½ Men" and loved hearing "Ryck's" stories. He took great pride in his grandchildren and loved watching them grow. Lloyd will always be remembered as a man of strength and warmth.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law LaVerne Nelson.
