The Mass of the Christian Burial for Lois K. Bruch, 65, was concelebrated by Father Wayne Gubbels, Father James Bruch, and Father Lynn Bruch on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Audubon. Interment was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Audubon. The casket bearers were Jonnie Meislahn, Larry Petersen, Mike Wede, Mark Wede, Lony Haubrich, and Tom Vennink. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of the arrangements.
Lois Kay Bruch, the daughter of John I. and Loretta Renze Schultes, was born May 28, 1944, in Carroll, and died May 23, 2010, at the Manning Regional Health Care Center in Manning, at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 25 days.
Lois was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. Lois attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton and graduated from Kuemper High School in Carroll, with the Class of 1962. She attended the Iowa School of Beauty Culture in Des Moines, Iowa graduating in 1963, then was employed as a hair stylist for Hannash Beauty Shop in Carroll for a short time.
On Jan. 18, 1964, she was united in marriage to Robert Bruch at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. Three sons Michael, Brian, and Randy, were born to this union. Lois and Bob farmed in the Gray and Templeton areas. Lois worked for Dee Kerkhoff as a beautician for several years. She then opened and operated her own beauty shop from their home. Lois was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1983. She lived at home until she entered the Manning Plaza on February 4, 1994. Lois always appreciated her grandchildren, friends, and family who would come to visit. She also enjoyed watching daytime television.
Lois was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa. She was an honorary member and past secretary of the St. Patrick's Catholic Women. Lois was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a member of the Gray Firebelles. Lois loved and cherished her family. She loved to cook and host parties. Bob and Lois enjoyed card club with friends, local dances, and meeting with friends after church on Saturday nights.
Lois was preceded in death by her father, John I. Schultes; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Art Bruch, Sr. and his wife Regina; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Paul and Darlene Bruch.
Lois is survived by her husband Robert Bruch; her sons: Mike and wife Becky Bruch, Brian and wife Nancy Bruch, Randy and wife Annette Bruch all of rural Audubon; eight grandchildren: Katie, Nicole, Diana, Stacey, Dustin, Cole, Cody and Abby Bruch all of rural Audubon; her mother: Lorretta Schultes of Carroll; her sister; Marilyn and husband Dennis Vonnahme of Breda; her brothers: Leroy and wife Virginia Schultes of Templeton, Larry and wife Pat Schultes Carroll, Marvin and wife Delores Schultes of Hastings, Neb.; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Anita and husband Cyril Venner of Arcadia, Carol and husband Jim Starman of Halbur, Leo and wife Betty Bruch of Templeton, Art Bruch, Jr. and wife Rita of Arcadia, Marvin and wife Rita Bruch of Manning, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends and special lifelong friends Howard and Sharon Weitl of Audubon.
The family prefers memorials to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Manning Plaza Nursing Home.
