LuVerne Rodney Petersen (1921 - 2015)

LuVerne Rodney Petersen passed away on December 01, 2015 on his 94th birthday in Walla Walla, Wash., where he had lived since 2009.
LuVerne was born on Dec. 1, 1921, in Audubon County. His parents were Henry and Ingeborg Petersen. He grew up on a farm north of Kimballton, with four siblings, Bernyce, Arlene, Lois, and LeRoy; who all preceded him in death.
He was married to Alice Marie Nelsen, his wife of almost 72 years on Jan. 19, 1944 in Audubon. On March 4, 1945 he entered the army and served during WWII in Saipan. After his discharge, he returned to Kimballton where he and Alice farmed for more than 50 years.
In 2009 LuVerne and Alice relocated to Wheatland Village in Walla Walla, Wash., where they resided until October of this year. He was a member of the WW University Seventh-day Adventist Church.
LuVerne is survived by his wife, Alice; daughters, Jane (Larry) Dodds of Walla Walla, Wash., and Janet (Les) Brown of College Place, Wash.; grandchildren Greg (Amy) Dodds of Walla Walla, Wash., Kristianne (Jeremy) Connell of Hillsboro, Ore., Amber Petersen of Seattle, Wash., April Petersen of Sequim, Wash. and Bryan Aulick of Portland, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Emma and Nell Dodds of Walla Walla, Wash and Seth and Cory Connell of Hillsboro, Ore. and many nieces and nephews.
