Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

Marty Eugene Christensen, son of Marvin E. & Annabelle (Deist) Christensen was born Oct. 22, 1963 in Carroll, Iowa. On Sept. 19, 2013 at the young age of 49 years, 10 months and 27 days he died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Marty was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon. He attended Audubon Community Schools graduating with the high school class of 1982. From there he went on to further his education at DMACC in the Diesel Mechanic program.
On May 19, 1990 Marty married Brandy Schmidt also from Audubon. From this union, 3 wonderful children were born, Chase, Drake and Breanna. They lived in Ankeny and when the boys became of school age the family chose to move to Audubon to raise the children in a small town atmosphere. While living there a daughter, Breanna was born. The boys graduated from high school and were attending DMACC College in Ankeny. Two and a half years ago, Marty was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The family chose to move to Adel, where they could battle this illness together as a family because his wife and children were always of the utmost importance and the loves of his life.
Marty was a mover and a shaker...always on the go and continually making sure everything in his life was in perfect order. This included his home, vehicles and garage, which were always impeccably organized, clean and maintained. Those things were important and he took great pride in them. Marty had a deep appreciation for nice vehicles, from cars to trucks to his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle. Everything he owned was always all shined up !! It isn't cool if your chrome don't shine he would say. Other favorite hobbies included watching Nascar races and football. He was a life long and devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Marty was a phenomenal salesman. Everyone always joked that he could sell "ice to eskimos"! His ability to strike up a conversation with everyone he met was just one of his many attributes. And because of this ability he was very successful.
Marty will always be remembered for his fun-loving caring nature and his willingness to help anyone in need. He was a great husband, father, son, brother and friend...he will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife Brandy of Adel, children Chase of Polk City, Drake & Breanna both of Adel; his parents, Marvin & Annabelle Christensen of Hamlin; sisters Angie and husband Dan Rothmeyer of Carroll, and Bonnie Christensen of Ankeny; other relatives and many friends.
