Marvel Louese Munyon, 87, Des Moines, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Funeral services were be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines. Mrs. Munyon wasbe cremated and her remains will rest at Chapel Hill Gardens.
She was born Feb. 12, 1924, at Leon, the daughter of Charles and Fern Mullen Robison. She was a 1942 graduate of Leon High School and had a bachelor's degree in education from Drake University.
She was a retired school teacher. She taught special education classes in Audubon, and was a third-grade teacher in Guthrie Center, Iowa, for 10 years. She was director of the Open Bible Day Care Center in Des Moines for 10 years. After retirement, she had her own business, Louese's Machine Quilting in Des Moines. She married Dennis Dean Munyon Sept. 13, 1942, at Cameron, Mo. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Marvin Munyon, Rockton, Ill., and Doyce Munyon, Omaha.; a daughter, Marveta Davis, Valley Falls, Kan.; a brother, Meredith Earl Robison, Omaha; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Leo Robison; two sisters, Violet Jensen and Irma Klinge; and a grandson, Roger Munyon.
Memorial contributions can be made to the church of the donor's choice.
