Services for Mary Ellen Worster Mann , 88, of Clinton, Tenn., were held Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 with burial and graveside services on Thursday, Dec. 24 at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton, Tenn. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, Tenn., was in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Ellen Worster Mann was born July 2, 1921 in Algona, Iowa, the daughter of Stanley and Pauline Worster, and passed peacefully into heaven at home with her family on Dec. 21, 2009.
She graduated from Audubon High School in 1939, and from Grinnell College in 1943 with a BS in Psychology. She helped the war effort by working in the "Secret City," Oak Ridge, Tenn. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, swimming, boating and spent 46 wonderful summers at her cabin on Norris Lake, Tenn. She was happiest spending many special times with her family. She was active for many years in PEO, Timely Topics, and Garden Club. She was a member of Memorial Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Worster; her step-father, Merrell Morrow; step-brother, Charles Morrow; step-sister, Gertrude Morrow; and nephew, Kent Worster.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Edmund Mann, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage on Nov. 30, 2009; her daughters, Martha M. Miller of Chattanooga, Tenn., Melinda M. Jones and husband, John Paul Jones, Jr., and Mary Jo Mann of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren: John Paul Jones, II and wife, Jennifer, Abigail Barnes and husband, Steve, and David Jones all of Knoxville, Tenn., Ashley Boardman Miller and partner, Anne Hector, of Atlanta, Ga., and Sara Raglan Miller of Nashville, Tenn.; her sister-in-law, Norma Worster and niece, Paula Hansen of Audubon.
Memorial donations may be made to Memorial Methodist Church, Clinton, Tenn.
