Norma Jean Oakley Lauritsen Hlisabeck Norris, 85, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, July 6, prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery.
Norma was born on Sept. 3, 1926, in Audubon, to George and Nellie Oakley. She married Paul Norris on April 16, 1983, and they made their home in Des Moines. Norma was employed with the Polk County Sheriff's Office for eight years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Za Ga Zig Ladies Auxiliary, Daughters of the Nile, Naomi Circle, and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Norma, lovingly remembered as "Pinky," will be missed by her daughter, Barbara Ann (Richard) Anderson; seven grandchildren, Richard (Brenda) Lauritsen Jr., Stephanie (Tom) Clarken, Heather Anderson, Tony (Jennifer) Anderson, Sean Lauritsen, Emily (John Aaron) Luna, Brandi Lauritsen; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Oakley; four step-children; many step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and George Oakley; husbands, Lyle "Bud" Lauritsen, W. Jack Hilsabeck, and Paul R. Norris; sons, Timothy and Richard Lauritsen; brothers, Howard, James, Allen, and George Oakley; sister, Dorothy Schmidt; and step-great-grandson, Cole Clarken.
