A Celebration of Life service for Phylis Christensen, 83, was held in Eau Claire, Wisc., on Sunday Sept. 28, 2014.
Phylis Jean Lewis Christensen was born Aug. 16, 1931 in Guthrie Center, to Estel V. and Mildred O. Lupardus Lewis and passed Sept. 20, 2014 in Colby, Wisc.
Jean graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1949. She married Donovan L. Christensen on Sept. 3, 1949. They made their home in Exira.
To this union two children were born. A son, Daniel L., and a daughter, Ginger R.
Jean was a stay at home Mom until they moved to Estherville, where they bought another jewelry store. She and Donovan worked together for several years. They sold their store and moved to Wisconsin to be with their children. They bought a home in Chippewa Falls on Lake Wissota where they enjoyed relaxing with family and friends.
Then Jean took a job with Professional Education System, Inc. It was only part-time but sent her all across the USA, including Alaska and Hawaii. She built up air miles so that Donovan could go with her.
During their married life they traveled to several countries, like Germany, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Columbia and etc. They had been married 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Erland Shager, grandson, Dane Shager, sisters Mary Lou Lewis and Marjorie Kness, and sister-in-law, Iola Nelson.
She is survived by her Husband Donovan, her son, Dan (Terri) Christensen, Marshfield, Wisc., and her daughter, Ginger Shager, Eau Claire, Wisc. She leaves five grandchildren, Ben (Jenny ) Christensen, Alex Christensen, Emily Christensen, Jacob Shager, Amber Shager and two great-grandchildren, Lauren Christensen and Logan Shager. She also leaves a sister Sheryl McDonald, Jefferson, a brother Larry (Barb) Lewis Spirit Lake, and several nieces and nephews.
