Phyllis Jean (Fink) Kristensen, 83, was born on Nov. 11, 1932 in Gladbrook, to Arthur and Margaret (Harms) Fink, the fifth of six children. She passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Neb.

After graduating from Waterloo High School, Phyllis married Donald E. Kristensen. They made their home in Audubon, where Kris taught at the high school and coached the wrestling and football teams.
Phyllis worked as a secretary for many years and her last position in Audubon was at Southwest Iowa Real Estate.
After the last of her four children graduated from Audubon High School in 1977, Phyllis moved to the Los Angeles, Calif. area. She continued working in the secretarial field until her retirement.
After retirement she kept active, volunteering at a hospital and delivering Meals on Wheels for 14 years.
In 2011, Phyllis moved to Bellevue, Neb. where she enjoyed playing cards and the friendships she made at Tregarron Senior Residences.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lowell and Leon; and her grandson, Jesse Kristensen.
Survivors include her brothers, Russ Foster and Earl Fink of California; her sister, Mickie Fink of South Carolina; her daughters, Toni (Rick DeFreez), Azalea, Ore.; Vicki (Rick) Shaver, Jacksonville, Fla.; her sons, Clay (Tracy) Kristensen, Papillion, Neb.; Dean (Bonnie) Kristensen, Bellevue, Neb.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with two more on the way; extended family and friends.
