Raymond L. Dominy, age 95, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Oct. 3, 2014 at 11:42 a.m. Private family services to honor Raymond's life were held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, where full military honors were accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corp. League.

Raymond was born on Sept. 26, 1919 in Estherville, son of Harry L. and Julie (Finn) Dominy. Major Raymond L. Dominy proudly served his country during WWII as an U.S. Air Force B-17 pilot. Ray received numerous medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross. After returning home he married Peggy Mershon on May 14, 1949 in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death in February of 1986. Raymond retired from the Dubuque Pack after 30 years of service.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peg, two sisters Leona McCarville and Jeanne Dominy and two brothers Russell and Donald Dominy.
Survivors include his children; Judy Dominy of Bernard, Thomas L. Dominy of Tacoma, Wash., and Michael L. (Paula) Dominy of Dubuque; five grandchildren; Kelly (Matt) Wall, Tim (Teresa) Balfe, Josh, Tyler and Dejarae Dominy; eight great-grandchildren; a sister Betty (Dale) Christiansen of Audubon. ?A Raymond L. Dominy memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Paula Dominy and Dejarae Dominy and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Elizabeth, for their care of Raymond.
