A Memorial Service for Richard T. Haase, 81, was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Norfolk, Neb.  A graveside service was at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 2, at Greenwood Cemetery, rural Creighton. Military Rites were conducted by the Creighton V.F.W. Post #1151 and American Legion Post #74.  
Richard Theodore Haase, son of Theodore Gustav Priest Hasse and Margaret Collins was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Osmond, Neb. He was baptized as a child of God on Nov. 5, 1933 at Osmond, Neb. Dick attended Brunswick High School and graduated with the class of 1952. He grew up with brothers, Raymond and Robert and sisters, Rozella and Roxanne. He lived with his beloved grandparents, Wilhelm Johann and Sophia (Priest) Hasse during High School.
On Nov. 13, 1952, Dick was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps where he served as a clerk for three years. During the Korean War, he held the rank of sergeant when he received his honorable discharge on Sept. 1, 1955.
Dick attended Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, S.D. where he graduated with a B.S. in Education in 1958. In 1965, Dick graduated from the University of South Dakota where he obtained his Master's Degree in Education in Physical Education and a Master's Degree in Administration.
Dick was a former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Anita, and is a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church of Lincoln, Neb.
Dick married Marguerite Stevens and had two sons, Rick and Wes from this marriage. They divorced and Dick met Arlene Schlender in Minot, N.D. and married Arlene Aug. 17, 1963. The couple was blessed with three children: Robin, Todd and Beth. On Aug. 17, 2013, they celebrated 50 years of marriage with the renewal of their wedding vows at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Anita.
Dick was a teacher, coach and counselor for many years. He taught in schools in Alaska, Minnesota, Washington and Nebraska. Dick had a love for "God's Country" as he would call Alaska. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, collecting golf balls and books. Arlene and Dick traveled across the country and enjoyed visiting friends from every state. They lived in many communities and made a lot of friends. Arlene passed away on April 9, 2014 and Dick was lost without her. He joined her in Heaven on Jan. 28, 2015.
Dick is survived by his children: Rick Hasse of Fremont, Neb.; Wes Hasse of Minnesota; Robin Haase of Lincoln, Neb.; Todd (Mari) Haase of Omaha, Neb.; Beth (Rodger) Rasmussen of Elk Horn; 11 grandchildren: Crystal, Richard Jr., Tabitha, Stephanie, Kalyn, Megan, Paige, Ryon, Rayton, Maggie and Mollie. Three great-grandchildren: Taya, Eian and Bryson; his sisters: Roxanne and Rozella and a brother, Raymond of Norfolk, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; his grandparents; his parents and his brother, Robert. passed away on April 9, 2014 and Dick was lost without her. He joined her in Heaven on Jan. 28, 2015.
