Tom Railsback (1933 - 2011)

Tom Railsback, age 77, of Canyon Lake, Texas was called home on Monday, January 24, 2011. Tom was born on May 7, 1933 in Audubon, Iowa to his parents; Thomas A. Railsback and Mildred (Hootman) Railsback. Tom proudly served his country during the Korean War by enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS Iowa. After the war, Tom owned and operated several small businesses in Mechanicsville, Iowa. On May 8, 1961, Tom married his wife of 49 years, Karen (Galleger) Railsback.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Glen, his sister Jean, and a grandson; Shane Detwiler.
Tom is survived by his wife; Karen Railsback, sons; Mike Railsback and his wife Cheryl, Philip Railsback, Greg Railsback and his companion, Jean Myers. The grandchildren include Steven Railsback and Brandi McKnight, great-grandchildren; Colton McKnight, Audie and Aiden Detwiler, Kaitlyn McKnight and Abigail Detwiler. Tom is also survived by one brother; Charles Railsback.
A visitation will be held on Thursday January 27, 2011 from 4:00-8:00PM at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home at Canyon Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday January 28, 2011 at 10:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church at Canyon Lake, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shane Detwiler Foundation @www. or the charity of one's choice.
