Funeral services for Vera J. Hacket, 82, were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, in Anamosa.   Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, in Anamosa.   Rev. Laurie  Riley officiated at the services.  Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa was in charge of the arrangements. 
Vera Joan Hackett was born March 23, 1932 to Harvey and Ruth Hinkel Toutsch and died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at St. Luke›s Hospital Cedar Rapids following a brief illness. 
Joan graduated from Fayette Community School in 1949. She attended Upper Iowa University.  Dale W. Hackett and Joan were married on May 30, 1951 at Fayette.   Three children were born to this union: Chris, Kim, and Greg. Before moving to Anamosa in July of 1959, Joan and Dale lived in Arlington, Iowa City, and Cedar Rapids. Through the years Joan was active in the Anamosa United Methodist Church, the Anamosa Library Board (23 years), Ophelian Study Group, and P.E.O. (since 1967).  She worked at the R.E.C. for several years. Joan loved to cook and bake.  Being an avid reader, there were always books in Joan's life, playing cards and visiting with friends were two other special pastimes.
 Joan was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert, her sister Evelyn, and her husband, Dale. She is survived by her daughter, Chris (Greg) Jensen, Hamlin, son Kim (Natalia) Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., son Greg (Kelly) Hackett, Jefferson, S.C. and brother Nick (Nancy) Toutsch, Maquoketa.  Her grandchildren:  Katie Jensen, West Des Moines, Molly (Cliff) Schaefer, Monterey, Calif., Drew (Abby) Hackett, Coralville, and Skylar Hackett, Jefferson, S.C.  She is also survived by brother–in-law, Ken Klink, brother-in-law Bob (Fran) Hackett, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
