William (Bill) Tessman Burr, the son of Emmert A. and Ellowene Tessman Burr, was born July 1, 1951, in Carroll, Iowa and died January 11, 2011, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 59 years, 6 months, and 10 days.
Bill was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. He attended rural school, Hamlin #1, and then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1969. He was employed at Emmert Manufacturing for two years. In 1971 he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged and returned to Hamlin.
On October 7, 1972 he was united in marriage to Paulette Joens. Three children, Amy, Jesse, and Dustin were born to this union. Bill helped operate the family farm where they grew row crops and raised livestock. He also did custom farming for several other farmers. In 1995, he built several swine facilities which he has been operating until he needed to retire due to his failing health.
Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. Bill enjoyed woodworking and remodeling. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Minnesota Vikings fan. But above all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his children Amy Denny of Audubon, Iowa, Jesse and wife Mindy Burr of Waukee, Iowa, and Dustin and wife Jenn Burr of Audubon; his grandchildren Alese, Jill, and Jason Denny all of Audubon, Norah and Grace Burr both of Waukee, and Madison and Henry Burr both of Audubon; his sisters Lorraine and husband Harry Cook and Jeannine and husband Steve Wycoff all of Nevada, Iowa and Ruth Manning of Altoona, Iowa; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon, Iowa. Interment will be in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon. The casket bearers will be Kim Krauel, Danny Wittrock, Paul Lynch, Terry Baier, Jim Goecke, Tom Schultes, Rich Hansen, and Terry Sunberg. The family will meet with friends on Thursday evening January 13, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.
