Alexander Glover

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Alex "Red Cap" Glover, beloved husband of Laddie Salley Glover, entered into rest after a brief illness on August 24, 2013 at Georgia Regents Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Chavous Boyd officiating. The family will receive friends at church from 5:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be Friday, August 30, 2013 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC. Alex was educated in the Richmond County System, and before graduating joined the United States Army, where he served and fought during the Korean War from 1950-1953. He received two Bronze Medals for his service along with other awards while enlisted. Alex was honorably discharged during the late 1950's. Alex was the oldest of six children, one of whom preceded him in death one month ago. Alex, "Red Cap" as he was so well known, had a heart of gold and always was willing to lend a hand when someone was in need. Other survivors include: two sons, Al Glover (Cee Ann) and Gerald Glover (Rachel) of Jacksonville, Florida; two daughters, Deborah Glover Pearcey (Mark) of Lutz, Florida; and Mamie Glover of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and three great- grands; his ex-wife and the mother of their children, Berdie Henderson Glover of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Mary Delores Fortune (Oswald) of Brooklyn, New York; two brothers, Rev. Dr. Tyrone P. Jones, III (Angela) of Wilson, North Carolina and Furman Jones (Hollie) of Fresno, California; and a host of other relatives, to include nieces, nephews, cousins and two god-children.
