Andrew Grimaud

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Andrew Milton Grimaud, 84, husband of Shirley Crawford Grimaud, died peacefully Saturday morning, August 24, 2013, at Doctors Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26, 2013, at 11:00 AM from Liberty United Methodist Church, with Reverend Jim Hyder officiating. Mr. Grimaud will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Grimaud was born in Augusta, Georgia, on June 4th, 1929, to the late Harry Lee and Essie Cornelia Byrd Grimaud. He served in the United States Marine Corps and in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1952 until 1964. He was a charter member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church. Since 1979, he was an active member of Liberty United Methodist Church, where he served on the restoration team and the Administrative Council of the Church. He was a member of the Methodist Men s Club and the Tommy Richards Sunday School Class. He also held offices with the Fleming Community Committee. He was a loyal husband who loved his family. He was always a big part of his children s and his grandchildren s lives. He lived by example. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Cornelia Owens and Virginia St. John. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Keith Milton Grimaud and his wife, Deborah, of France; his daughters, Susan Grimaud Vardeman and her husband, Kirk, of Young Harris, GA, and Julie Grimaud Hammond and her husband, Reilly, of Aiken, SC; his grandchildren, Kirsten Grimaud Moody and her husband, Clay, Joshua Milton Grimaud, and his wife, Christy, Amy Morgan Vardeman, Taylor Anne Vardeman, Ansley Margaret Vardeman, and Justin Louis Brentnell; and his sister, Edna Jones, of Hephzibah. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Grimaud, Clay Moody, Justin Brentnell, J.P. Hammond, Eric Crawford, and Matthew Crawford. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Administrative Council of Liberty United Methodist Church.
