NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Edwin M. Williamson, 92, husband of the late Jean Simmons Williamson, entered into rest on Friday, April 26, 2013 at National Health Care. His funeral service will be held this afternoon, Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 3:30 PM in the Chapel of Rowland Funeral Home with Pastor Alice Deal officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. Mr. Williamson was a member of Belvedere United Methodist Church where he was the former superintendent of Sunday school. He was also a former Worshipful Master and a member of the Belvedere Masonic Lodge #388, Former member of the Lions Club, and American Legion Post 63. He retired from E.I. Dupont after 44 years. He also served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Survivors include one son, Chuck Williamson and his wife Marcia of Beech Island, SC; three daughters, Betty Wade of W. Columbia, SC, Cookie Bodie and her husband Jimmie of Evans, GA, and Margaret Covington of Yonges Island, SC; 7 grandchildren, J.J. Marcom, Kim Harden, Tracy Johnson, Gus Covington, Travis Covington, Mandee Fulton, and Brandon Williamson; 15 great grandchildren; and his very special caregiver, Dnise Bradley. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210-1790. Although I only had opportunity to talk to Mr. Ed a few times, he had my respect and admiration.
