HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mrs. Frances N. "Mom" Goodwin, wife of the late Howard H. Goodwin, Jr., entered into rest on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at her residence. Graveside services will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Paul Hall officiating. Family and friends should assemble at the graveside. Mrs. Goodwin, a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, was the daughter of the late Edward Allen and Lizzy Jane Smith Newman. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and an honorary member of Berlin United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful mother, sister, daughter and grandmother. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Goodwin was preceded in death by her son, Hank Goodwin III; her grandson, Nicholas Goodwin; her sisters, Nellie Blackwell, Mary Cushman and Myrtis Johnson; and her brother, Edward Newman. Survivors include her children, Gerald Goodwin and his wife Brenda, Richard Goodwin, Karen G. Perry and her husband Mike, Charles Goodwin and his wife Rise', and Vince Goodwin and his wife Cindy; fifteen grandchildren; as well as eleven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 439 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
