MILLEN, Ga. - Henry A. (H. A.) Flanders, Jr., born July 12, 1930 passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, after an extended illness. He was a native of Swainsboro, but upon his retirement moved to Millen. Mr. Flanders was a 1946 graduate of Swainsboro High School. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson College of Law in Atlanta, at the age of 19, he was the youngest person to ever pass the State Bar of Georgia and was an Emeritus member of the State Bar of Georgia. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, a Mason, and a Methodist. He also served in his early career as Probate Judge of Emanuel County and then worked for the Farm Bureau and later Cotton States Insurance Company, where he retired as Vice President of the Claims and Legal Departments in Atlanta, GA. He also served as a past president of C.C.I.C. Arbitration Committee. He is predeceased by his parents, Henry A. Flanders and Neta R. Flanders; sister Nan F. Hinton; and son Troy J. Brinson. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jackie P. Flanders, of Millen; two daughters, Mary F. Chatfield of Cumming, GA; Karen F. Burroughs (Jim) of Augusta, GA; great-grandchild Haley F. Chancey and great-great grandchild Braylee Chancey of Lawrenceville, GA; son A. Dean Brinson (Debra); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, at 11 a.m. at the Swainsboro City Cemetery with Rev. Jamie Archer and Mike Dann officiating.
